Get ready for a whirlwind journey through the rap industry as we sit down with Detroit's very own, Hatch Wiseguy. Known for his freestyling prowess and appearances on platforms like Sway in the Morning, we get an inside look at his musical journey, his inspirations, and the legacy he's building. And wait until you hear about how Eminem's evolving lyricism and Tech Nine's independent artist triumphs have shaped his approach to his craft.

We're not just skimming the surface; we dissect the science of rap – from the complexity of multi-syllabic rhyme schemes to the art of penning clever bars. Hatch shares his songwriting process and gives us a sneak peek into the emotional depth of his upcoming album 'Dirt and Diamonds'. We reflect on the state of rap, the evolution of hip-hop, and challenge conventional wisdom with perspectives from both the OGs and the new kids on the block.

But there's more than just music in this conversation; we compare attitudes across regions, discuss the importance of vitamin D for combating seasonal depression, and delve into the importance of loyalty in relationships. You might be surprised by Hatch's unique perspective on these topics. So, whether you're a hip-hop enthusiast or just a curious listener, this episode has a treasure trove of insights waiting for you. Tune in and join the conversation!

What's poppin'? Oh, there we go. What's poppin'? everyone? Thank you for comin' in live. We are back after our little four, four, five week hiatus. I don't know, i take breaks. I'm sorry, i'm lazy. I'm lazy, but today we have a very special guest reppin' Detroit, Michigan, that's right, detroit. In the house we have none other than Hatch Wiseguy comin' on. He's gonna, we're gonna drop some singles, we're gonna talk about his journey into music and we're gonna bring him on right now. So let's get right into it.

Speaker 4:

Let's pop this up. Yo, yo, yo, what's good, what's good.

Speaker 3:

Good how you doin', man.

Speaker 4:

Man, i'm feelin' great man. Thanks for havin' me. How about yourself?

Speaker 3:

Oh you know, livein' life, i love it, i love it.

Speaker 4:

Fantastic, fantastic man. Livein' the dream, Yes, sir. so what's on the agenda tonight, man?

Speaker 3:

Well, as we all know, on this show I like the freestyle, my interviews. It's kind of my way that I freestyle like I have musicians on that actually spit. You obviously are amazing. I've seen all of your freestyles on YouTube and they are just nuh Oh thank you, man, i appreciate it.

Speaker 4:

Man. Yeah, that's kind of been my forte over the years, man. Just you know, coming with the bars and whatnot. You know what I mean.

Speaker 3:

Yep, exactly, yeah, it's awesome. But yeah, go ahead and take a minute and tell these, introduce yourself to the audience out there.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, man, hatch Wiseguy, you know what I'm sayin' Michigan's finest. You know, mc, definitely MC. I don't like to tell people I'm a rapper, I'm an MC man. It's the craft for me. You know what I'm sayin'. It's the lyrical ability and you know all those things I like to have in my arsenal. Man, i consider myself. You know what I'm sayin'. I take it more serious than the next guy who just says he raps. Bet Freestyle, friday 106 and Park All Star. That comes in the battle. Rap Sway in the Morning. Alumni. Dj K Slay alumni. You know what I'm sayin'. I can name a hundred different things, but you know what I mean. I've been around when it comes to this thing you dig.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you've been out there workin', bro. Like I love Sway in the Morning, i listen to Shade 4-5 every morning. I love Sway in the Morning and I like Shout out to Sway in the Morning legend legend.

Speaker 3:

Yes, exactly, exactly. Shout out to Sway legend for sure, but I saw, like I've seen, the Freestyle Fridays but the five fingers of death. You know the Freestyles that go on in there. And the first time I've ever seen Sway stop everything and drop a disclaimer in the middle of the episode is when you were on there spittin' That was the first time I've ever seen that.

Speaker 4:

Oh, man, shout out to Sway. He's such a cool dude man. He really he's such a big part of the culture man, even just for people like myself. Even doing his show a couple times I did has done great things for me and it's definitely looked at kind of like a notch on my belt when it comes to being a seasoned MC. You know what I mean. It's just like that was important to me watching him growin' up man and wantin' to be on there, watching people like Tech Nine, watching people like King Crooked or Crooked Eye then, you know or Eminem being on there and just being like wow, you know. So just I feel super blessed to even be a part of that legacy. You know what I mean.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, from being a white. I'm sorry, but being a white rapper from Detroit, do you get the whole Eminem vibe a lot. Do you get the whole? you just want to be Eminem, type of thing.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, i think most white rappers do anyways, but you know, especially me, you know with being from the same area and you know having a battle rap background and things like that.

Speaker 4:

It's all love, though, man. You know I used to run from it full speed man. I used to be anything I could. I did not want to be there, but now it's like. You know, i just take it as a compliment. It is what it is. I mean you can't deny the goat-ness. You know what I mean. Like, let's keep it real. He's definitely been an influence on me, like a lot of other MCs have. You know what I mean, but it's just kind of one of those things when you're a real MC, mc, white rapper it's coming at you either way.

Speaker 3:

Right, exactly, exactly. Yeah, like the whole reason I love Eminem is because you can feel his music Like you know, like when he wants, when he's angry, you know it, you feel it. When he's sad and upset, you feel it, man.

Speaker 4:

I want to go on record too and defend him real quick, because I get in these hip hop debates sometimes and when he comes up I always defend him, And I've heard people say things like he just rhymes a bunch of words about nothing. And I'm like bro, that's the biggest cap ever. The whole reason everybody loves him is because we know everything about his life. He took the daughter's name you know his baby mama's name.

Speaker 4:

You know his mother's name. Like how many other rappers could you do that? You don't even know their names, let alone the story, all the shit. You know all the legal troubles he had. You know what I'm saying. It's just like we know so many things. He told Stan Another story. He was a storyteller, it's like you know. I'm not afraid He's talking about his sobriety Like he had content. You know what I mean. So I just want to. I want to put that on record, man, because I'm sick of motherfuckers talking like that. Don't front him like for real Exactly.

Speaker 3:

Do you like the new style Eminem now, or do you like the old style?

Speaker 4:

I like it all. I know everybody has their you know, different opinions. I think it's two different things. He's evolved so much. I think lyrically, right now he's way better when it comes to like mathematically breaking down how he's rapping and how many punchlines and such and such like where he's taken it. Lyrically I think it's further than ever. But I think because he's so focused on lyrics, some people don't like his songs as much as the older songs because they were more sing along not sing along but like Slim Shady, like you know people, just yeah. And I also think he was new back then. It was different, younger energy. It was just a lot of different things. Man, you know he caught lightning in a bottle, but I mean he flipped the world upside down numerous times. Man, in different eras. Can't nobody say nothing about him? There's people I feel like you just can't talk about. I don't want to hear nobody talk about Nas either, you know what I'm saying I don't want to hear nobody talk about a lot of my guys.

Speaker 4:

Man, don't talk about Wayne, don't talk about Hove, don't talk about I'm going to throw Tech Nine in there. We don't talk about Tech Nine, especially him, really Yeah. Because he went all the way against the grain.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I love Tech Nine Because of that fact is that he just went. He pretty much went independent.

Speaker 4:

Man and they front and only go much through the years. Mtv, bet, all these big platforms, bro, and he still prevails. It was just like it's crazy man Shout out to Tech man.

Speaker 3:

Right, and you wouldn't even know it, that he was an independent artist, because he's been on MTV, bet, he's been on music videos Yeah, he's got a little Wayne on his record, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4:

And in E40 and every legend. I mean I could go on forever Snoop, whoever He got songs with pop bro Right, you know It was like Tech Nine is super dope man. Nobody did it like him, not only from the business standpoint, but just from the branding standpoint man. He did everything against being mainstream and still hit the Forbes list four years in a row and sold out tours in different countries everywhere and Eminem on his album and the highest of heights in hip hop. People have respected him still. It's just crazy man, But he deserves it.

Speaker 3:

He deserves it For sure, for sure. Yeah, crazy, crazy bro.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

But we're going to get into a music video here real quick Sure. Yeah, yeah. But before we do that, can you elaborate on your freestyles, because you have a freestyle number one, freestyle number two, freestyle number three is what we're going to listen to, sure. And then you have Quattro and then Orange, where you rhymed a bunch of words with the word orange. Yeah, it's like what's the thought process behind that? You're just like I just want to spit, so I'm just going to get on there and spit.

Speaker 4:

I think I needed as funny as an artist. you kind of get these, go through these creative cycles and whatnot, and I was at a point where I was making these songs that were kind of more mainstream and I kind of wasn't getting my satisfaction as the emcee that I am wanting to do what I do And what I just. I finally broke free of that and I realized I just need to do what I do best and be the best at it or one of the best at it. So I'm like I'm going to do a freestyle series So people have something to look forward to.

Speaker 4:

new people who come on to the Hatchwise guy bandwagon, so to speak, they can have a bingeable content series that they can check out and see the different levels of the freestyles. And to this day people still tell me some of my best songs are those freestyles. You know what I mean. So that's just really me focusing on doing, me doing what I do best, not so much. I'm not the guy who's trying to shake asses in the club. I don't need to try to be that guy. I'm the guy who wraps the crazy bars and punchlines and shit. You know right, exactly That's where I'm at with it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, We got enough of these club hit people. We don't need any more club hits. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 4:

It's like bro, i could be the 50th best club hit guy, or I could be like a top five, top 10 or whatever. You want to consider me lyricist. You know what I'm saying Like shit man, I know what I'm going to do at the end of the day.

Speaker 3:

You know right Exactly. But you're definitely up there, bro, at least in my book. But I appreciate it man.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I mean, you know I try to do my own horn too much, but I know where I'm at.

Speaker 3:

Hey, when it's when it's earned and deserved. Yes, yeah, man, it's not just me.

Speaker 4:

You know, yeah, man, I've had some of the best in the world. Salute me, you know, so I take that to heart.

Speaker 3:

you know right, Exactly, Exactly, But real quick. everyone, we're going to get into a music video real quick. This is hatch. This is free three. This switch is up his flow for at least four times in this. Yeah, oh yeah, easily.

Speaker 6:

All right, guys, check it out. I feel like I'm torturing naga in an almost danger. I don't wanna haters a pulver. Hey, that's the surest way to turn the corpses in my torture chamber. Y'all just got excuses. Really, I don't fuck with that. I'm outside the box. Y'all be scotch taping. Double wrap hard like a double tap, charge Like a double pack. Wouldn't shake your hand if I was a fucking rumble pack.

Speaker 6:

Attention rising, intensifying no sense and trying up against this lion. I'm flexing like an offensive lineman. Exvasive diamonds, collect a drop of impressive rhyming. You just mad. It ain't your turn. Like a Tesla driving, I go after all of y'all. Tell me who I won't slay. Call me third baseman. You won't be getting on safe.

Speaker 6:

I'm a wordsmith but they act like I'm semi-great. Call the hearse bitch on rack with you anyway. Just a burnt wrist back to the resume. Couldn't earn this if you last day was him and way You talking shit. But I went from a prince to kings, so make sure you use this to ring for you. Kiss the ring.

Speaker 6:

I'm a freestyle shitting. On course, Pardon my French, I'm highest bond chore, Chopping on blades like a fucking lawnmower. Shut your shit down like the Amazon store. Get em. I never seen a million rappers come and go, but hold me none of those. I ever undergo a bun and loads of tons of Dose. They gonna fold, but I'm above them. No, just like a bungalow Ridin' in this bitch GI Joe Giant in this bitch V5 phone, Thinkin' they're givin' up pow. Get em up. Shit em up, shit em up pow. Keepin' it real like cinema. And I'm a inner vote from an SNS style cinema signature sound Skin em and finish the round. Miniature mean I'm beginning to end the year. Train by the end of the ground.

Speaker 6:

Wrapping wack is half you rappers. I just couldn't fathom. You got a motherfucking problem and you lookin' at em. Provoke fucker. Your throat's covered with bone cutters. Watch your soul hover, then leave the rest of the ghost breathes. Free three, just free three. See, I make this shit look so easy. You see me the re-tweet. Get the fucker. By my way, beat me, You'll see the sneak peak. I'm just, I'm just warming up pre-heat. Oh my god, this is only free three. Oh my god, this is only free three bang. Oh my free staves. Shitting on yours, on yours, on yours, on yours.

Speaker 4:

Oh my free staves shitting on yours, yours, yours, yours, yes, sir.

Speaker 3:

Fuck fire, dude damn Man.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, bro, that man, that particular record is a funny time in my life because I was genuinely angry in life and I feel like I translated it in the song in the booth you know, Everybody goes. I love that part when you get to grunting and really, you know, and I was like bro. That's real feelings, bro. I think that's why people like it, because you can feel that it's genuine you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3:

You can feel it yeah you wanted to fight somebody.

Speaker 4:

Man, yeah, it was. I mean that's a whole other story. But yeah, I was in that place mentally most definitely.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i was at work. I was at work in a. I'm a cultivation technician and I was at work. We listened to music while we were picking leaves and I put that song on and everyone just stopped and just looked and was like what the fuck is this?

Speaker 2:

That's dope.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, actually I go check him out, dude, he's fucking dope. But yeah, the whole room stopped and just like this is dope, That's fire man.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, i mean hey whether it's good or bad. I'm just glad I got their attention, you know.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, exactly Yeah, that's what it does. It's amazing. It was good Like that one line on there. It's like you provoke fucker, your throat's covered with bolt cutters, watch your soul hover, then leave the rest of the ghostbusters.

Speaker 4:

I was like oh, i'm so glad you pointed that out, because I always feel like that part kind of gets over her, over her, because the hook comes right in after that. And I always like to hook over shadow. That was last bars, but I'm glad that you called that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, man there's so many lines and that man, what'd you say? I was just like oh fuck, i'm like this is amazing. I appreciate you bro.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, i take every line pretty serious. To tell you the truth, man, i'm not trying to waste a moment. You know Like I got a pretty high standard for myself when it comes to writing. I don't know people who work with me in the booth get irritated because I'll be overstressing one line. So bad, i'm like, but you don't understand, this is my art. Like this ain't just some shit. Like this is like. You know what I mean. Like I don't know, i take it serious.

Speaker 3:

Do you pick apart your music a lot, or is it just like you just throw it down or you pick it apart?

Speaker 4:

Honestly, yeah, like I probably over obsessed because I'm still learning. man, i'm seasoned but at the same time I'm still learning, like in some of my newer music. man, my whole delivery is different than it used to be. You know, a few years back, Things I'm learning man, different things I'm taking different approaches. You know what I'm saying. You got to keep it fresh too, Like it gets old.

Speaker 5:

But yeah, as far as lyrics man like, yeah, i take my time, bro.

Speaker 4:

I'm not one of the. I mean, i'll be honest with you. If you're really vibing, you can knock a 15-minute verse out, most definitely. Right, okay, i like to really. you know my process. I really like to think it through. If it's a song with a real strict topic, i actually write down the ideas or the points that I want to touch on first, okay, i'm like I want to mention this, and then I go through the verse trying to make sure I check all the boxes. Okay, okay, i got that, i got that. I got that. You know what I mean. It varies. It really varies. It just depends on what type of song it is. you know Personal shit. sometimes you can write in five minutes because if you just speak in the truth about your song, you're gonna get all the answers. You just gotta make it rhyme.

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Exactly.

Speaker 4:

Exactly.

Speaker 3:

Is it more difficult to like try to tell a story that's not you really don't connect with personally, or do you just try to stay away from all that and just try to like stay with what you know?

Speaker 4:

Funny. You say that I got a song that's unreleased right now where I'm telling a story from a first person perspective. But it's not about me, it's about a character named Jimmy, and that's all I'm gonna say right now. It's really dope story. Sound effects throughout it, like it's real cinematic. You know what I'm saying Something new for me, but normally I like to tell my story. You know what I'm saying, what I know best. I wouldn't mind doing something else. You know what I'm saying. But like Joyner Lucas does that really well, nas has done that. He's turned himself into a gun, spoke from the perspective of a gun. That's why Nas is one of my favorites. You know what I'm saying. But yeah, i mean, i love it. It's hip hop, it's all creativity. I don't think there's too many rules when it comes down to that And I plan on experimenting more in the future, but mainly it's just my story or things that I'm close to or around or whatever the case, right?

Speaker 3:

So who's your favorite artist that you collabed with? I know there's a lot of them.

Speaker 4:

Man I might have to give it to. I'll be honest, i got to give it to my man, crooked Eye AKA King Crooked Man from. You might know him from Slaughterhouse or he was on Death Row back in the day as well, and the reason I say that man is because he'll pull through for me when I really need him to. Okay, i'm going to let the cat out the bag Him and I got a brand new song. We've done music in the past. We got a brand new song coming with a video. That's kind of an exclusive I haven't really talked too much about thus far.

Speaker 4:

You know what I'm saying, but um, telling secrets now You know, it was one of those things where I was going to Cali and I was like, yo, man, i'm about to pull up on you And I mean you think you could string this together in time and I'll pull up and we'll shoot a band in it. And he was like all right, man, i got you You know what I'm saying And Crook is a good dude man. We've had a great relationship for the better part of a decade, to be honest, with you man. You know we've toured together, we've done mad shows together all over different states and whatnot. We've got, you know, multiple songs together and done other business ventures too, just outside of music shit, you know. So a real solid dude man. I gotta definitely give it to him. We've, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4:

I've just I've been through it with him more than other people man from you know getting shows booked out in Montana and we pull up and the guy ain't got no hotel. Oh shit, we've got no hotel for us And we can't book one anywhere in the city because there's a motorcycle convention in town, oh damn. And now we're running around and we know where to go. You know what I'm saying And I'm mad as hell. I'm kind of pissed and Crook is very calm. I'm like why is he so calm? And he said something that I'll never forget, man, and I've said it so many times in other scenarios. And he just looked at me. He goes, it's rock and roll man, and him saying that was such a seasoned veteran-ass thing to say.

Speaker 4:

He's like you're thinking, man, this ain't the only bump in the road that you're going to have this age. Like, we'll figure out, we'll be good. And I was just like man when he said that. I chilled and I was like he's right And we ended up figuring it out. Like I was mad for nothing because we ended up figuring it out. But that was a learning lesson, man. So now it's just like. That's true, bro. I've been through so much shit in this game. It's rock and roll, man. You just got to roll the punches. But, yeah, shout out to Crook man. Look out for our new record, man. It's going to be dropping sooner than later.

Speaker 3:

Awesome.

Speaker 4:

Exclusive Man. I got so many records coming. Man. I got a lot of big collabs coming Man. I don't even want to drop too many names, but yeah, i'm really excited, it's going to be a great year, man. I already got some good things already in the work, So yeah.

Speaker 3:

Dove, dove. Yeah, everyone, if you want to follow. If you want to follow, that is a link in the description below.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, Oh, good looking out Yeah yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

So, just for short, just look up Hatchwise Guy on all platforms Hatchwise Guy to find me, whatever the platform is. You know what I'm saying. Yeah, man, i'm just happy to be here. Man, brand new song just dropped too. Yeah, jordan, yeah, just a few days ago it's called Jordan with my man, stevie Stone, speaking to Tech Nine. He was growing up with Tech Nine for years. That's how I got hip to him back in the day And we did a show recently.

Speaker 4:

We got Mad Cool hung out in the studio, got food, this and that Came up with this dope ass record And, man, i'm just really happy about it. I think it turned out great. I think it's perfect for summertime. You know what I'm saying. It's just one of those ones, man, it's like when you step out on stage, you want to turn the crowd up, you want to get hyped Like I'm a performer. You know what I mean. So that song is definitely that tear the roof off record, man. So I needed one of those. I needed a new one. I need some bangers. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4:

So yeah check that out on all platforms. Hatchest, Stevie Stone. It's called Jordan. She's smacking.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's dope. single guys out there, go ahead and check that out And it's like what makes Hatch take, like what makes you want to get into that vibe And what made you turn to music.

Speaker 4:

It's funny. You asked that What made me turn to music is something that I can't explain. Okay, You know, according to my parents, I was reacting to music before I could even walk. You know what I'm saying? Like when he say, Hatch, you better get to drop the songs the years have hey, I just put out a song like two, three days ago.

Speaker 4:

We just talked about it, man. Come on, j-dog, you keep up with me too. I know you, man, you keep up. You should know that album coming soon, by the way, is getting mixed and mastered as we speak and putting the last touches on it. You won't be disappointed. But sorry, what was I saying? I don't even remember.

Speaker 3:

What makes Hatch take Like? what made you turn to music.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, as far as that I don't know. You know, music is a really magical thing, man. People don't realize how frequencies affect people. Like you ever look at someone dancing, like wiggling all around and moving and shaking, you know, and it's like bro, nothing in the world will make your body do that, except for these noises, noises, certain sounds and noises that are hitting the frequency that is causing a physical reaction in you, that nothing else is going to give you Nothing. You know what I'm saying, like it's crazy. So music, i don't know, i can't explain that. I guess that's just kind of in my DNA somehow. But what makes me tick man outside of just?

Speaker 4:

you know rhythm and melody, as far as music it's really lyrics man And I'm really blown away by I see, now I'm gonna get nerdy on y'all now You know if you're not hitting my head, you might have to go to hell.

Speaker 4:

I'm just saying You know what I mean, so put your. You know what I mean, put your spectacles on for this. No, but I'm into what they call multi-syllabics. You know what I'm saying. Multi-syllable rhyme schemes and structures that are complex And, for example, like that free three you just played. That's some of the most complex stuff. I don't know if the average ear is even understanding right. Many rhymes are coming and how many. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4:

For example, what I say like just a burnt. Like this is the silver, just a burnt crisp I can add to the resume Couldn't earn this if your last name was Hem and Way. Like I'm rhyming, like the whole sentence. It's not. I walked over there, sat in the chair. You know what I mean.

Speaker 4:

It's like multiple things. It's like to keep that going and make it make sense and rhyme And then at the end, be clever with some witty. You know what I mean. It's like that's not easy to do. That's what. That's why Eminem is considered one of the greatest. That's why the best rappers in the world are considered that. You know what I mean.

Speaker 4:

The people I look at Little Wayne, great example of that. Techni, great example of that. It's like they're pushing the envelope when it comes to structures And it's all poetry, man. It's all. You know what I mean And it's just, it's super dope to play with words And that's what I do it. For.

Speaker 4:

If I, if there was no multi-syllabics, if there was no punchlines, if there, it's almost a challenge for me. It's like some people want to do, you know, puzzles and word searches and shit, or play video games or whatever your thing is. I like to take all these words and just like, turn them into something crazy That's going to make somebody go damn. Like all the same words you've heard your whole life. But if I put them like in this order, you might be mind blown.

Speaker 4:

If it's clever enough, you might. It might evoke emotion out of you to want to cry or to go damn or to reflect, or you know what I'm saying. Like that's what I live for, man. Like those lines Drake's got those lines man I'll never forget. Like he had this bar about. He said I just heard they moved my grandmother to a nursing home and I'll be acting like I don't know how to work a phone. You can read down your CJ. I just called some bitch I met at the mall that I barely know at all And I'm like bro, like facts like when's the?

Speaker 4:

last time you called your grandma like you know what I'm saying, like you better, you know, like the clock ticking, you know this is like you got to take care of business, man, that that shit made me pick up the phone Like that's a bar. That stuck with me forever because that's the realest shit ever. You know I did a lot of songs, man talking shit, i don't get me wrong, i'm still going to talk my shit, but it's you know. Fuck you, i'm better, i'm bragging, i'm this, I'm that. It's competitive rap, right.

Speaker 4:

But now it's a lot more content coming from me, man, and on this new album you're going to hear a lot more personal shit. You're going to get a bigger peek into who I am and what I go through in my life and things I've experienced and the way I feel about certain things and the good and the bad. It's not just everything's so great, i'm so cool, it's also like yo, here's the, here's the other side of the coin. You know what I'm saying. The album's called Dirt and Diamonds, man. That's that's to kind of signify that contrast dirt and diamonds. You know what I'm saying. It's the good and the bad, you know so.

Speaker 3:

You got the, the gold and the grit. That's what my grandma always says. You got golden grit, but you can't get the grit without the gold, or you can't get the gold without the grit There you go.

Speaker 4:

It's balanced man. It's the universe. You know what I'm saying. But yeah, man, it's a. That's what makes me tick, bro, it's. It's. It's lyrics, man. It's lyrics that I want a reaction. I want to reaction out of you, whether you go damn, whether you give me that one or you give me the state. I love those. I take all those tank phases too. Give me all that, because I'm working for them. I'm trying to earn. That's what I'm going forward with the band.

Speaker 1:

I'm like I write something and I get excited.

Speaker 4:

I say, oh my bro, they're going to twist their face. You know what I'm saying. I'm looking for the. I'm looking for the heartfelt, i'm looking for the, you know? I mean I played one for my cousin two days ago, real personal joint. He was like damn And like the whole way. He was just so taken by the record. I was so happy. I'm like bro. I hope everybody has that reaction You know what I mean.

Speaker 4:

Like that's what that's what I'm doing it for man, for real, Like I'm really an artist. You know, I'm not just some guy rapping and trying to get you to dance in the club. No disrespect, but it's just like they're artists too in their own way. But I'm saying I'm really about the craft. You know what I mean?

Speaker 3:

Right, That's me man Yeah, Yeah, It's, it's. It's weird Like my fiance laughs at me sometimes because when they hear, when you hear a sad song like you tear up and makes you cry, And some people, some people are just like are you crying? And it's like, well, it's a sad song, you know, you tear up a little bit And then you and it gets to that point it's like some people just don't feel music the way that others do. You know, I've I'm not musically talented at all, Like I can't sing, I can't play an instrument, I can't rap, But the one thing I can do is I can feel music And when I hear a sad song and it hits me, I tear up. And when I hear a song that pumps up and I want to tear something up, So yeah, there we go.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, man, You know, I think, I think that's why we hold people like two pockets at your high regard and people like DMX. You feel that shit bro.

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 4:

DMX will make you cry in the middle of the concert. He'll tell a prayer or he'll you know, whatever man. DMX he'll rest in peace to D man, each right Special. Yeah, a lot of emotions on you all the time Like he would.

Speaker 3:

He would bust out a prayer on the, on a track. He'll bust out a prayer and then he had me feeling he'd have like, he'd have me in your feelings And then the next track is he starts. You're so close to, okay, let's tear this up again.

Speaker 4:

I got the hang with DMX band before he passed and uh, oh, wow, what's cool about?

Speaker 3:

that?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, there's some video footage of it up. If you look, you know okay, but yeah, bro, he He's really the real deal. He like the person that he shows you on camera and that that's like that's really him. Wow he's uh, he wears it on sleeve. He's an open book bro. Like It's just so funny to really see him in person and just in a regular scenario, and like It's really DMX you know, it's just crazy man, he uh, such a such a Man.

Speaker 4:

I don't even know what the word is for him, but he's just such a special person in hip-hop, bro Right. I enjoyed his last album too, before he passed. I thought it was kind of fresh.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, yeah, i think it was a little outdated, but yeah it was. It was DMX, though It was that's yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, i mean it's not he's not him and his prime or nothing like that, obviously, but just the fact that he's even still doing it is dope, mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, i'm sure I did it when he was on lyrics, that that rap battle where they do the just him in the lyrics. I think it was him and Snoop DMX and Snoop Oh verses.

Speaker 4:

You mean, yeah, verses There you go, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's yeah. Yeah, he was all drunk.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. He's still he's still still spent pretty good, though, yeah he did his thing, you know, but it's just funny.

Speaker 4:

He gained a lot of weight of that. You know I'm saying it's just funny. I love I can't lie man I love seeing our OG's in their older age doing their thing and shining, bro, like I love that Fat Joe is still somebody relevant in the culture nori. You know I'm saying I love that Jay Z is still looked at as the godfather of this whole shit or not.

Speaker 4:

Just winning Grammys for the first time at 49 years old. Right out of control. Like this is. I loved it. The fact that M is shattering records still. The fact that Go shitting on features not like you know I'm saying like I'm with all that bro, i'm sorry, but like that's my cup of tea, man, and you know the new artists are doing their thing, but it just don't hit the same bro for me.

Speaker 4:

For me, you know I mean other yeah the exact opposite, but I don't think that music is gonna last as long by default, right, you know look at that making. Do you notice? they're remaking all the shit with two thousands right now. You listen to me, you hear all two thousand beats and already hits and then making worse songs over those beats. I'm sorry, the machine is not. there's only a couple I like out of like 20.

Speaker 3:

I think juice world is like the only juice world future and That's it, i believe, is like the only, like new, new hip-hop that I actually listened to, and you know what's funny is.

Speaker 4:

Futures, not even that new. He's got over 10 years in the game, which is crazy. But you're right, yeah, you're saying like the new style, yeah, yeah, yeah, like I'm not gonna cap, bro, there's I like. I like some songs from amigos, i like songs by future. I like I like songs with young thug and shit like that. Um, i like I actually was a big fan of Fetty Wabba. I'm not gonna front but, really okay.

Speaker 4:

Um, super nice guy too, yeah, but um, i Like his flow. At the end of the day, though like that's not what I'm in rap for, right at all, but I can enjoy that. I think they have a very good talent in a whole, nother way. I just don't think that they're, you know, trying to be super lyrical and that's kind of what I'm in it for, so that appeals to me more. I, you know the shit I listen to is like Griselda. You know vena butcher, common machine, westside gun Most of people I've been listed lately and rap is attached to them, from 38 spesh to ransom, to Stove God cooks I mean, i could go all the way down the line. It's like somebody's guys are probably newer names to a lot of people, but right in this world that in this thing of ours, as they say, those dudes are the shit, like rock Marciano's one like you may never heard of him, but he just came to Detroit. His tickets were like $45 and he sold that bitch out damn you know I'm saying it's like FF 45,.

Speaker 4:

You know, i mean like 38 spesh came to town.

Speaker 4:

He's selling goodies for $100 a piece and then bitches are selling you know I'm saying it's a different it's different, it's really dope what these guys are doing because they're older guys, they're in the late 30s, mm-hmm, and they're and they're not their clients, but well, i kind of their clients out there. Their fan base is also around their age. These are grown men with jobs and shit. Right, afford the hoodie, that can afford the $45 ticket, not a young kid. You know I'm saying so. It's kind of interesting how they do they sell their vinyls.

Speaker 4:

You know you can get like I say now come miss selling Vinyls come back only get this special colorway if you pay 300, 500, thank God my nose for thousands of dollars collectors. It's like and you're still trying to eat off streams. This guy just sold a vinyl for $500.

Speaker 3:

One copy right one tell me one person that's got a vinyl player right now.

Speaker 4:

That's. You know. I'm saying, yeah, like, but vinyl. Vinyl sold more than CDs in the last couple years, so it's like that games crazy. Why don't you know my guy typhus, shout out, typhus, he, he does really well with the vinyl, i know, yeah, i'm saying he's shipping crates and shit like that, like he's eating all vinyls, you know, and he's playing. And it's funny because, like me being an emcee, i'm leaning a lot more that way. Now too. My, you'll see, man, when the album drops, you'll see what I'm doing. You know, i'm really Planting my flag in the ground. You know I'm saying get, you know I'm trying to try to stay.

Speaker 4:

Not that I'm not gonna do trap beats or anything like that, because I just literally put out a trap song a couple days ago. But okay, i'm not really trying to be that type of artist.

Speaker 3:

I know where I belong more than ever now right understand my sound and my shit more now, so narrowing that down, you know, Yeah, man yeah, like, yeah, going back to like the older, the older generation, like Kind of kind of like cashing in now, like you're doing a whole the Spotify and doing all the the the newer marketing Stuff and that, though, that the new people are doing, but with their old stuff and it's.

Speaker 4:

It's amazing that way, and It's there's like other people too that are just in their 40s, 40s and 50s and they're just now Springing in, so it's yeah, dope is actually dope and I'm so happy that these guys like Jay-Z and And Nas and all the ones I always mentioned, and tech nine, and then guys, they're in their 50s muster rhymes. You know, james, they're in their 50s and they're going hard and they're like Wrapping everybody else right.

Speaker 3:

I saw. I saw a tiktok with even Brady freeze that are battling each other. I didn't even know Brandi can spit like that to be out of the house. It was a even Brandi and they were battling It's battling each other.

Speaker 4:

Brandi.

Speaker 3:

Know I'm thinking Brandi's like a, like a singer. You know she's a Moisha right, she's spitting bars, though I was like damn.

Speaker 4:

That's hard. That's hard. That was dope man. I love hip-hop man. It's like you know what's dope by him up is like You got you know Name, whoever you got the baby. Let's say your little baby exists right, and then you can all little dickie can also exist. Yes, you know I'm saying, and then you got like ICP can also exist. Yeah, you know I mean. And then you have like Some rap, rock shit that can also exist, like a little biscuit or some shit. You know I mean, it's like it's just dope, that I Don't know. I'm not somebody who like feels I don't put the boundaries on that shit.

Speaker 4:

You know what I'm saying, like music is always derived from something else. Anyway, i think it's dope when, when people collab, i used to love like in the early 2000s You would see like ice cube and corn doing a song, yeah, method man with limp biscuit, kid rock and Eminem, like that shit was dope back then, like that was fired to see. We don't really have that fusion like that right now. You know music's in a different spot right now, but you know it's cool like I even like when Drake does like them.

Speaker 4:

Jamaican joints like them. Shits are fired to me. I love reggae and reggaeton and dance hall, all that shit, right, i mean. So like I don't know, i like it. Man, people hate his Snoop Dogg for doing reggae album. I like, i, fucking like that. I'm like the only person I know that like that out. They like the.

Speaker 3:

Jay-Z and Linkin Park collision course. That was dope man. It was six songs and that was dope.

Speaker 4:

People love They man that she might have did better than the real versions of songs.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, for sure. Like you listen to 99 problems and with the linkin park version, and then you just listen to 99 problems, just like that.

Speaker 4:

It's trash No bro, the encore record. I remember being huge Man, that shit was crazy. That's yeah, man, that was a cool time, though That was a cool time man.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, we got. There's a lot of Detroit rappers out there. I'm like on the rise to. Big time a lot of you, a lot of them out there, independent artists out there. I like everyone always last asked me like what, what do you listen to? and I was, like I listen to independent artists, like I have my nausea, have my little Wayne and my M&M and all that too, but it's mostly I listen to independent artists because I don't like the music, the new music that comes out nowadays.

Speaker 4:

I feel that man, and I think it's, it's cool. You know, i think we're Such in a weird spot, man. Like you have the day I was trying to explain somebody some to our artists or someone. I was like, well, he's kind of underground. But then I started thinking about, like, what is underground? almost mean now It doesn't exist anymore.

Speaker 4:

If you don't need the radio no more, or MTV or whatever, then there is no underground to me like right, because when I see Griselda, for example, who I would normally have called underground, when they're on Jimmy Fallon performing, how would I underground? right My second is in the middle of Times Square with a fucking huge ad. That ain't that underground no more right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, like. Mainstream mainstream media television, radio, that all that mainstream stuff. People that get paid millions and millions of dollars To act and to sing and all that stuff. All that's going away Because you have people like my I'm not gonna to my own horn But you have people like myself that are creating their own content, their own entertainment, and that's what people are driving to nowadays like I can't tell you the last time I turn on the TV and watch the second, i can't do it, yeah the TV is right right.

Speaker 4:

I tell people time like I don't watch TV there was like right ever seen. Ozark, you ever know. No, zark, i don't see none of this shit like right, unless it's like a movie would like something, something that specifically might interest me, like I Don't know man. You know, i spent years sitting around watching TV and shit didn't do much for my life.

Speaker 4:

You know, i'm cool on that, bro. Like I got other shit to do right now. You know me, i'm a very Productive type of person. Like if I'm sitting around doing nothing, it'll give me anxiety for real, like Mm-hmm, i got so many big goals and dreams and shit And I feel like I got a certain mission and a purpose that I can't just be chilling. I'm not, i'm not, i can't be content, i just can't.

Speaker 3:

I just can't so you people like it took me almost 40 years to realize this, but you have. You have one life in the honest earth. Yeah, it's one, that's it. That's it Like you really want to spend it. Go into work doing a nine to five that you hate, coming home watching TV Just to go to work and do a nine to five again that you hate. It's like yeah so why not pull the plug?

Speaker 4:

You know why not all we have, man, is our experiences and The bonds that we've created with people. That's that's really what I think life's about and overall, it just ends up in The frequency of love. That's what I think it is doing, what you love, being around the people you love. I think we are supposed to experience love in this phase of our journey, straight out.

Speaker 3:

That's how I feel. Do what you love around the people that you love, you know man. Amen, bro, I'm sure to be angry and depressed and stressed out all the time.

Speaker 4:

Let me get to and it's tough man, especially like you know. You know it's funny. Like I travel, man, And I see a big difference Depending where you go. Like you go out West, people got a whole different overall attitude than they do.

Speaker 2:

Good and bad.

Speaker 4:

They have a more carefree, less stress type of life and go with the flow and enjoy yourself, which is dope. They're also into more like being active and outside and she fit like, which is good. But then sometimes they take shit for granted. Or they're entitled or they, you know I'm saying expect certain things like But here in the Midwest, specifically Detroit area, we got a more hard, hard shell approach to shit. You know, i mean like we're all about the grind and work and like serious, like it's more, it's more hustle and bustle here. You know I mean it would work. For what the fuck we?

Speaker 3:

Love. It's kind of a little bit. Oh, the audio's cutting out a little bit My experience in technical difficulties. You know, i stand back in here in a minute, oh guys. But yeah, it's like you said, the hustle and bustle around here and like, especially in, like Detroit, it's like the hard-nosed grit and grind, white collar people, you know, but not a lot of dreamers out there. No, we can't. I can't hear you. We're experiencing technical difficulties with a hatch right now. I can't hear him at the moment. But, yeah, everyone out there It's, yeah, hatch wise guy.

Speaker 3:

Go, go, follow him. All his links are in the description below Facebook, instagram, twitter and all that stuff. So, yeah, go go ahead and follow him. Can you hear me? Can you hear me? Yeah, try and look back out and then come back in and we'll try that. Yep, yeah, we'll try that. So, yeah, everyone, do you go out there? follow hatch wise guy Facebook, instagram, twitter, at hatch wise guy Everywhere. It's mate, he's amazing. Yes, it's where his flow is just tight. It's superb. Like I said that free three. I played that at work and everyone just like hit them. Everyone started jumping. It was good, it was good stuff. So, yeah, go ahead and check him out. For sure He's got him back here. Let's see. Let's see if we got a good working again.

Speaker 3:

Yo yo, there we go, got him back, there we go.

Speaker 4:

Oh, i misspelled my freaking at on the screen. I'll try to hurry up and get back in.

Speaker 3:

I was like, oh yeah, that's hilarious, oh well that's why I got the banner down low, anyways, yeah right, i got this, you know, but yeah. Yeah, yeah, like Detroit was that. It was that it's cold here too. So we have it's the strong living type thing. It's cold here.

Speaker 4:

The economy fucked up. Man. I'm gonna tell you right now that that cold, that that that seasonal depression is real. If you're watching this and you suffer from seasonal depression, right, vitamin D Yes, that's big and you should be taking a year round anyway for a multitude of reasons. Trust me, like I said, i'm a fucking nerd nowadays trying to learn as much as I can man.

Speaker 2:

Sometimes I'm like health.

Speaker 4:

You know, i mean like trying to master overall, trying to master self, period, mental.

Speaker 3:

I've been trying this intermittent fasting thing. It's working. me too, me too So funny.

Speaker 4:

Good for you, man. Yeah, that's good. Listen bro. I just did a three-day fast.

Speaker 3:

Oh, three damn, i don't do.

Speaker 4:

I never thought I could, but I'm like a headstrong Yeah term and stubborn motherfucker. I'm like I'm gonna do.

Speaker 3:

I'm gonna do it, so I went for it.

Speaker 4:

I had. I had a couple days right now much going on. Man, I wasn't even halfway through the first day and I was like I don't know how I'm gonna make this shit. It was hard, but every day got easier. By the time you're at the third day you're like, well, shit, I gotta. I mean, I'm looking at the finish line.

Speaker 3:

I got a, you know right, you can't turn back down.

Speaker 4:

I was so proud of myself. It was more of a a test of my determination and willpower as well, but there's so many benefits. It's like Any segment sickness, disease, ailment, you know. I mean like that shit's out of there because it has no food to cling on, to right nothing to survive. You know, your Kills all your white blood cells. You regenerate all your new white blood cells and that you know There's things about your muscles and your skin and just all these benefits to it.

Speaker 3:

Man, it's super, though, figuring out the body all the shit They don't want us to know, right? Yeah, people don't realize. you don't need to eat three times a day, like should you?

Speaker 4:

maybe it's like you might as well take whatever they taught you.

Speaker 3:

Understand out that's not the way right, you gotta listen to your body. That's pretty much all it is. Oh, the whole food pyramid, don't get me started though.

Speaker 4:

Bullshit man Marketing scheme, bro. People don't realize everything we think we do. Who say we wear it's like all that shit's marketing like everything We're lying to every single day, just saying, even if we're not lied to, we were influenced.

Speaker 3:

I mean, it's like This is what it is man Exactly gotta try to do your best out here, man. Just survive, survive, facts awesome. But yeah, thank you. I want to thank you for coming on to the show, thank, you, thank you.

Spoil me in loyalty and I be in the basement Girl with that right of dark kind of fire. Well, who ain't afraid to work it like a 95 Good girls where they have a man those would cat-direct, should even see you have my back. Stay real, i shouldn't have to ask for that. But if not, kick rocks like.

Speaker 2:

Be my You by my side. I feel complete. Maybe are you down to be down. Have my back when I'm not around, not be acting all out about. I need to know now. Are you down to?

Speaker 6:

be down, you down to be down, i ain't average man found in the town. Would you be mad when the mother girls after me a be glad you the one they would rather be? I stay sharp, finer than the feather, trying to hit the chart then climb it like the weather. Yeah, no time, because I'm grinding under pressure, shining like a diamond. You will find up in the treasure my whole life stares, go, go, go, huh, get with the wave if it floats your boat. She said baby better slow your own on drink. But the things I work for logo. Yeah, good girls, where they have a man I ain't gonna find cuz. Stay real. I shouldn't have to ask for that. But if not, kick rocks like.

Speaker 2:

Be my eyes. When I can't see You by my side, i feel complete. Maybe are you down to be down. Have my back when I'm not around, not be acting all out about. I need to know now. Are you down to be down?

Speaker 5:
